A vital element of Mauldin’s mentality involves looking at something ordinary while contemplating what else it could be. Her parents, Bill, Bobby, Shirley, and Mary have always been great sources of encouragement, as well as her two younger brothers, Matthew and Donovan, whose imaginations inspire her writing. Mauldin resides in Lexington, North Carolina USA with her two cats. Writing since she was “old enough to hold a crayon”, B.N. Ryan struggles to earn their trust, to learn his role and to accept his place as a Belligerent. The other team members, led by Mackenzie, are suspicious of Ryan and his intentions, his loyalty to the team and how he’ll impact their goal of victory in the Vicara games. Ryan is placed on a team as a driver, a specialist for all vehicle related activities, but also expected to hone his skills in physical combat.

While many Belligerents act in a service capacity, these elite combatants compete in a series of gladiatorial events called the Vicara games for a chance to win their freedom. He is arrested and adopted by a flagrant combat team owner, and brought to a special training academy.

Belligerent follows the adventures of Ryan, a small time car thief who finds himself caught up in the world of Belligerents – society’s outcasts and criminals who are forced to serve and entertain the elite.

Mauldin is now available for purchase worldwide. JPRLog - Fable Press is proud to announce debut novel (Dystopian Fiction, YA), Belligerent, by B.N.
